American black walnut (juglans nigra) is a beautful hardwearing wood native to eastern united states. the colour and apperence of the wood is mostly dark chocolate in colour but can range from lighter pale brown with darker streaks and can sometimes have yellow-grey, purple, resddish runnung throughout. the beauty is when turning you dont know what colours or figured grain to expect this is why it is one of my favourite woods to work with. the dark smoulder lines created by burning the wood and sterling silver inlay really contrast well aganst this dark wood bringing out its natural lusture.
Zebrano single copper rest cigr ashtray.
Zebrano (Microberlinia brazzavillensis) is an exotic wood that originates from West Africa.
It is a light brown or cream colour with darkish brown streaks running through vaguely resembling a zebra’s stripes. the stripes can be either chaotic and wavy or somewhat uniform.
To work with it's both unusual and exciting because you'll never know what to expect from the arrangement of the zebra like stripes. Finishing this wood can produce beautiful enhancement really showing off its natural colours and grain movement throughout the wood.
Really a striking, statement ashtray for any cigar lover.
